If you want your gun safe to be completely protected from mold, rust, and corrosion then the Lockdown GoldenRod dehumidifier is what you need.
It's the highest selling, most reviewed, and best rated dehumidifer, and it's also the one I use in my gun safe.
The GoldenRod dehumidifier works using a small heating element that warms to around 100 degrees, stopping condensation from gathering in the gun safe.
It works in gun safes with high moisture levels and can reduce the relative humidity to 40-50% within just a few hours.
What I really appreciated about the GoldenRod dehumidifier was the versatility. It works in all types of gun safes and is available in a range of sizes to match the space.
The basic model will cover 100 cubic feet, but you can also get 18, 24, and 36-inch models which will protect gun safes up to 200, 300, and 500 feet, respectively.
Plus, the Lockdown dehumidifier rod comes with legs for standing operation, or the option to mount it on a wall or shelf.
The small dimensions mean it can slot in easily at the back of your gun safe and it won't block any access to your pistol racks or ammo.
The only drawnback of the Lockdown dehumidifier rod is that it does need an electrical outlet for the plug attachment to connect to.
You will need to drill a few holes, but unless your gun safe is installed far away from your electrics it shouldn't take much DIY work.
The Lockdown dehumidifier is a quality product that can be used anywhere (I'm literally yet to find a gun safe it doesn't fit in).
It does need an electrical outlet, but connecting it to your mains is a small price to pay to keep your guns and ammo dry and secure year-round.

Garages deal with higher levels of humidity, and garage gun safes need a good quality dehumidifier to manage the moisture.
The PEET corner stand dehumidifier is the best gun safe model for garages because it's easy to install, simple to use, and makes basically no noise.
This means you can leave it running constantly to protect your firearms without giving it a second thought.
The PEET dehumidifier uses convection to protect against humidity. Cooler air is drawn into the bottom of the device, warmed, and then released from the top.
This slightly warms the gun safe and protects from mold and mildew, rust, and corrosion.
This simple, but effective, operation makes it one of the best gun dehumidifiers to use in a cold garage where humidity levels will be higher.
The heat controlled circulation protects a larger area than other dehumidifiers, and it can manage more moisture.
As well as being effective, the PEET gun safe dehumidifier is efficient as well. The low energy draw means it will only cost you about as much as an incandescent bulb does each year.
One of the only drawbacks for these electric dehumidifiers is the plug and outlet.
The cord and plug come unassembled to make routing easier, but the actual plug is fairly poor quality. I'd recommend buying a better quality plug instead for a couple of dollars.
Despite the minor issues, once you have the dehumidifier installed it is very low maintenance.
Gun owners don't want to spend hours setting up a dehumidifier, and this is the simple solution for protecting a garage gun safe where humidity levels are higher.

The Dry-Packs recharageable dehumidifier is the best choice for any gun owners who don't have an electricity source nearby.
These desiccant dehumidifiers work without power and can be used again and again for years to come - giving you simple and effective dehumidifying.
Dry-Packs desiccant dehumidifiers work using canisters which are about 6 inches tall. These are large enough to absorb moisture, but also small enough to fit in most gun safes with ease.
The canisters are filled with two types of silica beads. The white beads make up the bulk of the canister and are not dyed nor contain cobalt. They absorb about 60% of their weight in moisture.
The orange colored beads are there as an indicator to recharge.
When the colored beads (there is only about a cap full) turn dark green, it means it is time to recharge the canister. You do this by baking them directly in your oven or convection oven. Do not use in the microwave, though!
Depending on the temperature and relative humidity, the recharge takes between 3 and 6 hours per canister.
Baking at about 275 to 300 degrees will dry out the beads and return the indicators back to orange. Once cooled, you can place them back in the safe.
One drawback of this dehumidifier is that there's no warranty. However, desiccant dehumidifiers have fewer parts so it's less likely that there will be an issue with the mechanism anyway.
I would still thoroughly check the device when you get it though and return within 30 days if you aren't happy.
These desiccant dehumidifiers aren't designed for larger gun safes that suffer from very high humidity.
However, if you have a small gun safe and want to protect your firearms without doing any wiring, then this is one of the best dehumidifiers for you.

If you want protection at a great price, then the Eva-Dry recharageable dehumidifier will work well for you. It's compact, portable, and child friendly, so while it works well in a gun safe you can also use it in other areas of your home.
This Eva-Dry dehumidifier uses water glass technology crystals instead of traditional silica. This is an improvement on the Eva-Dry E-333 and means it can absorb more moisture, more quickly.
It's also easy to recharge when the crystals are saturated. You can just plug is straight into an outlet and the heating pad will dry it off in 8-10 hours.
Just make sure all the beads have changed back to orange before you place it back in the gun safe.
What I like most about this dehumidifier is how simple it is. There's no batteries, no power cords, and no attachments of any kind. You just put it in the gun safe and let it get to work.
It's also portable and lighter than the Eva-Dry E333 (weighing just 1 pound!) so you can easily move it between rooms.
The only downside of this Eva-Dry rechargeable dehumidifier is that it isn't the most powerful on the market. There's no fan to encourage air flow, and in larger gun safes it probably won't remove enough moisture to protect your firearms.
However, if you have a small gun safe then this dehumidifier offers an easy way to protect your guns and ammo. If simplicity is top of your list, then this gun safe dehumidifier is definitely one to consider.

Small gun safes don't need massive dehumidifiers, and a lot of the time simpler is better. The Hornady rechargeable dehumidifier is the as simple as they come as it can just be placed directly in the gun safe to start removing immediately.
It's offers an easy way to protect your firearms from mold and rust without having to be hands on at all.
This desiccant dehumidifier works using silica gel beads. They attract moisture from the air and draw them into the dehumidifier. This stops condensation and humidity from gathering, protecting your guns and ammo.
The sleek box is well designed with a stylish red and black look that won't stand out in your gun safe.
There are several mounting options and you can lay this box flat on the floor or shelf of your safe, prop it up in a corner, or use the included quick-connect mounting bracket.
This lets you maximize your space while managing the humidity.
The best feature of this silica gel dehumidifier is the rechargeable beads. When the beads change color it means it's time for them to be dried out, and with this dehumidifier you can do this by plugging it in.
This usually takes about 10 hours, but can take up to 24 hours for all the beads to turn blue.
There was an issue with the original run of this model that the internal wires around the plug area would come loose, which could allow the silica beads to fall out.
This has been addressed by Hornady, but the dehumidifier does have a 1-year warranty so don't be afraid to ask for a replacement if you notice an issue.
Despite a few minor issues, this dehumidifier is one of the best rechargeable desiccant dehumidifier for gun safes.
It fits in easily, looks good, and works well. It won't lower the relative humidity as effectively as an electric dehumidifier, but for the price it offers some excellent value.

Humidity and moisture will damage your firearms and ammo quickly, and if you know moisture is an issue then you need to act fast.
Liberty Safe make some of the best gun safe dehumidifiers for tackling moisture quickly and this dehumidifier will make a big difference in just a few hours.
The Liberty Safe dehumidifier rod warms to 100-120 degrees. This allows warm air to rise and circulate, preventing condensation from forming.
This is hotter than most other dehumidifier rods and helps to prevent any rust, corrosion, or mold from forming on your ammo or gun metal.
What I really like about this dehumidifier is that the hot dehumidifier rod doesn't get hot to the touch. It won't ignite any cloth, fabric, or paper, so it can be placed anywhere in the gun safe.
This Liberty Safe gun safe dehumidifier can also be mounted really easily with brackets that come as standard. The mounting itself is simple enough, though I found some of the screws a bit short.
It's worth purchasing some longer wood or even sheet metal screws for a more secure mounting.
It does need a power outlet, so you may need to run the power cord wire through the safe (drill a hole if needed) or use an internal outlet if your safe has one.
This is fairly straightforward, but if you don't do DIY then you may need a bit of help.
Overall, this is a good choice for anyone who has a gun safe which is in a moist environment and needs a lot of protection.
Liberty Safe makes some of the best residential gun safes in the world, so it's not too surprising that they make some of the best gun safe dehumidifiers too.

If your gun safe is already full then the last thing you need is a bulky dehumidifier taking up space.
The Pro Breeze mini dehumidifier is a compact desiccant dehumidifier that doesn't need batteries or power cords. You can just set it up and let it run without it taking up much space at all.
The Pro Breeze mini dehumidifier works using silica gel beads which are dyed for color identification.
The beads are orange when dry, and they'll absorb moisture from the air in all types of gun safe. When they turn green it means they need to be dried out.
This is a reachargeable dehumidifier, and I really appreciated how simple it was to dry the beads.
You just plug it in using the plug attachment and the heating system will get to work, changing the beads from green to orange.
The whole recharging process only takes 10-12 hours, so you can just leave it overnight and use it again in the morning.
The other thing I really like about this mini dehumidifier is the portability. It's compact and lightweight, with no connections to worry about.
This means you can lift it in and out of your gun safe easily, and use it in other rooms as needed. It also works well in cars, RVs, or even gym lockers.
The only real limitation of this gun safe dehumidifier is that it's only effective in small spaces. It doesn't get as much air flow as electric dehumidifiers so you shouldn't expect it to work in a larger gun safe.
However, this is one of the best gun safe dehumidifiers for those who want to keep their guns and ammo in good condition without losing lots of space.
The mini dehumidifier even comes with a 12 month warranty, which is rare for desiccant dehumidifiers, and gives you some added protection with your purchase.
