As allergies and viruses are ever-increasing, many people are turning to air purifiers to clean the air in their homes and lessen undesirable symptoms. Here we take an in-depth look at the Okaysou AirMax 8L, a 5-in1 True HEPA Air Purifier.

If you haven’t heard of the Okaysou brand, you’re not alone. In terms of businesses, they are still considered a newbie, as they launched in 2018.

Their goal is “To become the world’s largest independent shopping search platform, so that everyone can buy the best products with the same money.”

As of now, their products are mostly focused on air purifiers, scales, and oil diffusers. When Okaysou offered to send us the AirMax 8L, we jumped at the chance to see first-hand what all of the 5-star Amazon reviews were about.

Why Choose Okaysou Air Purifiers?

Many people turn to air purifiers for asthma and allergy relief, but the Okaysou is primed and ready to take your air to next-level clean. This 5-in-1 True HEPA air purifier has a medical-grade ultra-duo filtration system that can take care of smoke, dust, viruses, and bacteria, wildfire smoke, pet dander, cooking, and other household odors, and VOCs.

Their powerful design also allows air to circulate at a rapid pace – up to 1.5x per hour in 800 square feet and up to 5x per hour in 320 square feet.

Design, Size & Weight

The AirMax8L has a sleek white design that will fit the aesthetic of any room. The glossy finish is modern and attractive, and super easy to wipe down as well. With the dimensions 12.9 x 7.1 x 19.4 inches and weighing in under 14 lbs, the AirMax8L is ideal for larger rooms (320-500 square feet), while still having the ability to be moved easily from one location to another. For optimal results, use the AirMax8L on floor level.

Performance

It has a CADR rating (Clean Air Delivery Rate) of 210 and can circulate the air up to five times an hour in a room that is 320 square feet.

The AirMax8L was made with superior safety in mind, and the model has been CE, FCC, ETL, and CARB certified. It is also 100% ozone free guaranteed.

Accessories & Parts

Besides the unit itself, the only parts you need to worry about are the two different filters that work within the unit. They are:

The filters should be changed at the same time every eight months or as the indicator alerts you.

Other Features

  • Sleep Mode – Purifies the air at an astonishingly quiet level of 28 dB. It also shuts off all lights so that you’re not disturbed.
  • 3 Fan Speeds – Choose between low, medium, or high fan speed for each session.
  • Timer & Auto Shutoff– Easily set the timer with one touch for 1 Hour, 2 Hours, 4 Hours, or 8 Hours.
  • Child Lock Function – Hold the child lock button for 3 seconds to lock the control panel so that curious little hands cannot change your settings.
  • Filter Replacement Indicator – The filter indicator will tell you when it is time to change air filters.
  • Noise Level – The AirMax8L is rated as less than 58 dB, but we found it to be even quieter than that! When holding my decibel reader directly in front of the air purifier while on full speed, I had a 58 dB rating. However, just six feet away the reading was only 44 dB. I usually run the fan speed on medium and forget that it’s on most of the time, it’s so quiet.

Warranty

Even though the packing says that the warranty period is for two years, Okaysou has recently extended the warranty on all of the AirMax8L to a full five years from the purchase date to fully stand behind their product. Their customer service team is ready to help you, should any issues come up.

Pros

  • Filters last up to 8 months
  • Extremely quiet, even more so than advertised
  • 5 Stage Filtration System
  • Affordable
  • 5 Year Warranty when purchased on Amazon

Cons

  • The unit itself is large

Okaysou AirMax8L: Who Is it Best For & Why?

The Okaysou AirMax8L is the ideal total-home air purifier. Even though the unit looks large (it is 19.4 inches tall), it’s incredibly lightweight and can be carried around your home for several uses. I find it useful as the last step in deep cleaning a room after dusting/vacuuming, as a way to collect anything that was left behind.

It’s also great using in the kitchen after cooking something especially odorous (fish, anyone?) or to air out a room directly after painting. No more icky fumes for days; the Okaysou has got you covered.

For an even greater cleaning boost, I recommend running your ceiling fans simultaneously with your Okaysou air purifier. This will allow even more airflow while the product is running.

Comparison With Other Models

AirMax8L vs. AirMic4S

Unlike the stand-alone AirMax8L, the Okaysou AirMic4S is a smaller air purifier made for a tabletop or nightstand. Instead of having the 5-in-1 filters, the AirMic4S holds one medical grade H13 HEPA filter. Customers can customize their filter based on their needs, with the choices being Pet Allergy Filter, Germ Defense Filter, Toxin Absorber Filter, and Odor Remover Filter.

I would recommend the AirMic4S for smaller bedrooms and college dorms or other areas that don’t need more than one filtering technology.

AirMax8L vs. AirSlim6C

The AirSlim6C is another great option for smaller rooms of up to 172 square feet.

It uses a 4 stage air filtration system to purify the air from pet dander, allergens, bacteria, smoke, and irritants.

The unit is less than 3 lbs and will be suitable atop a table or dresser.

I would recommend this model for a child’s bedroom, as it also comes with a built-in night light with four different lighting options.

AirMax8L vs AirCubo8C

The AirCubo8C is the largest of all the Okaysou air purifiers at just under 20 lbs, and it is the only model to have what they call “Smart Auto Mode.”

This sensor can read the air quality of your given room and give it a score of bad, neutral, or clean. Unlike the other Okaysou models, this home air purifier has 4 fan speeds and is suitable for larger rooms of up to 430 square feet.

The AirCubo8C uses a 3 stage filtration system, so even though it can clean larger areas than the AirMax8L, we still recommend the AirMax8L for a deeper level of purification with its 5 stage filter.

Comparison With Other Air Purifier Brands

Okaysou AirMax8L vs. Hamilton Beach TrueAir

The Hamilton Beach TrueAir is a great desktop air purifier for those with asthma or allergies. It’s about half the price of the AirMax8L, but it also covers about half the space (around 140 square feet).

I would recommend the Hamilton Beach TrueAir if you are looking for a small air purifier for your cube or desk at work, as it is quiet and includes a 3 stage HEPA filter. If you’re looking for your home office or larger space, it’s worth the upgrade to the AirMax8L.

Okaysou vs. Germ Guardian

Okaysou and Germ Guardian are pretty much on par when it comes to air purifying, but Germ Guardian takes the cleaning to the next level by using UV C light to penetrate and kill germs and bacteria.

This premium technology comes a bit more expensively than the Okaysou products, but for homes of the elderly or immunocompromised, we find that Germ Guardian is a good choice. Both brands have HEPA filters that need to be changed every 6 to 8 months.

How to Change Filter on Okaysou Air Purifiers

Changing your Okaysou filters could not be easier, thanks to its clever design. Simply take off the back panel using the notches at the top and remove the used filters.

Then, carefully insert the Okaysou AirMax 8L Duo-Filter Carbon Filter with the pull tab facing you, followed by the Okaysou AirMax 8L Ultra-Filter True HEPA, also with the pull tab facing you. Replace the back panel, and you’re good to go!

These filters are meant to last about 8 months with regular use. It should be noted, though, that they are sold separately on Amazon. Some customers have mistakenly ordered one, thinking it was a set, but you need to purchase them each individually.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these systems easy to install?

Setting up your Okaysou air purifier couldn’t be easier. Simply take the plastic off the filters, insert them, plug in, and turn on!

Are these systems easy to maintain?

To maintain your Okaysou AirMax 8L, you simply need to wipe down the exterior housing from time to time to remove dust. The filters need to be replaced about every 8 months, and an indicator light will come on to let you know when it is time.

Are Okaysou air purifiers safe and healthy machines to run in my home?

Yes. These purifiers use medical-grade HEPA air filters to help leave your home’s air cleaner than ever.

How much does it cost to run an Okaysou air purifier all day?

While the Okaysou AirMax8L does not specify its exact wattage, most modern air purifiers function at 50-70 watts. So, assuming you were running your air purifier at high speed (70 watts),  and a kilowatt is 10 cents an hour, it would cost 0.07 cents per hour to run. Used on its 8-hour timer, the cost would be $0.56 for a day at the highest speed. You could run the purifier on high speed for 8 hours per day all year for just over $200.

Is it okay to leave Okaysou air purifiers on all night?

Yes, it is perfectly safe to use your Okaysou air purifier overnight by using the different timers to set your preferences.

How long and how often should I run my Okaysou air purifier?

How often you use your air purifier will depend on your personal preferences and other circumstances, such as how often you clean and vacuum your home. In an ideal situation, the air would be purified 24/7, but that is not cost-effective or practical. I recommend using your Okaysou air purifier 3-4 times a week on the 8-hour timer. During seasonal changes and times of sickness, you might want to use it more often than this.

Where should I place my Okaysou air purifier?

The best place to put your Okaysou AirMax8L is wherever you need the cleanest air, whether it be next to your bed, in the office, or next to your laundry room. The most important thing to remember is that you need to keep the back on the product (where the air comes in) at least two feet away from curtains or bedding at all times for proper use.

Conclusion

After using the Okaysou AirMax8L for several weeks in my home, it’s become a welcome addition and part of our daily routine. I love knowing that a medical-grade, 5-stage air filtration system is affordable and within reach for all, not to mention readily available on Amazon.

If you’re suffering from seasonal allergies or even just smelly kids, the Okaysou AirMax8L can make a tremendous improvement on how comfortably you breathe.
